Parent is used to reference a superordinate item in a hierarchical relationship.
It may be the case that an item A has Child: B. In that case B will automatically get the reverse link Child-of: A. So you might wonder, why the Parent property is needed. It is, because reverse links are out of the control of an items writer. The Parent property lets writers explicitly declare Parent items.
Very often, there will be a single Parent. However, any number of Parent properties may be used.
